Explore Our PA6

Discover our PA6 — engineered for injection molding or extrusion, with excellent mechanical, oil, and impact resistance.

1. High mechanical strength and stiffness

PA6 offers an excellent balance of tensile strength, flexural modulus, and rigidity, making it a go-to engineering thermoplastic for load-bearing applications. Unreinforced PA6 typically delivers tensile strength of 70–85 MPa and a flexural modulus around 2,500–3,000 MPa, allowing it to support significant static and dynamic loads. This makes it highly suitable for precision components such as gears, sprockets, bearings, bushings, pulleys, and structural brackets. When reinforced with 30% glass fiber, these values can increase dramatically (tensile strength often exceeds 150–190 MPa and modulus reaches 8,000–10,000 MPa), enabling replacement of metals in many weight-sensitive designs while maintaining reliable performance under continuous mechanical stress.

2. Excellent wear and impact resistance

PA6 is renowned for its superior toughness and abrasion resistance, especially in sliding or rubbing contact. It has a low coefficient of friction (typically 0.2–0.4 against steel) and excellent resistance to wear, even in dry or semi-lubricated conditions. Its notched Izod impact strength (around 5–8 kJ/m² unreinforced, significantly higher in impact-modified grades) allows it to absorb shocks and vibrations without brittle failure. These properties make PA6 ideal for moving parts such as gears, cams, wear pads, conveyor components, and housings exposed to repeated impact, vibration, or cyclic loading. In many cases, it outperforms acetal (POM) in toughness while providing better fatigue resistance under high-speed sliding.

3. Good resistance to oils, fuels, and lubricants

PA6 exhibits strong chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, mineral oils, greases, diesel, gasoline, and many industrial lubricants. It maintains dimensional stability and mechanical properties with minimal swelling or degradation when exposed to automotive fluids, hydraulic oils, or cutting fluids. This performance is particularly valuable in under-the-hood automotive applications (engine covers, intake manifolds, fuel system components, oil pans) and industrial machinery (gears in gearboxes, pump housings, and bearings). While it absorbs some moisture (equilibrium moisture content ~2.5–3.5% at 50% RH), properly designed parts and stabilized grades handle these environments reliably over long service lives.

4. Versatile processing and grade customization

PA6 is highly processable via injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and even casting (monomer casting for very large or thick parts). Its relatively low melt viscosity and good flow characteristics enable thin-wall molding, complex geometries, and high production rates. A wide range of tailored grades is available:

  • Glass-fiber reinforced (10–50% GF): Dramatically increases stiffness, strength, creep resistance, and heat deflection temperature (HDT up to 200–220°C).
  • Mineral-filled: Improves dimensional stability, surface finish, and warpage control.
  • Impact-modified: Enhances low-temperature toughness for outdoor or cold-environment use.
  • Heat-stabilized / hydrolysis-resistant: Extends service life in hot, humid, or glycol-exposed conditions.
  • Lubricated / PTFE or MoS₂-filled: Further reduces friction and wear for high-speed applications.
  • Flame-retardant and conductive grades: For electronics or safety-critical parts.

This customization flexibility allows PA6 to be optimized for demanding sectors including automotive, industrial machinery, electrical/electronics, consumer goods, and railway applications.
