Discover Our Flame-Retardant ABS
Find out about our flame-retardant ABS — same strength, rigidity, and processability as standard ABS, but with enhanced fire‑safety performance that meets strict regulatory requirements.
1. UL 94 V-0 & 5VA level flame resistance
GPPC D-1000S and D-1300 are high-performance flame-retardant ABS resins engineered to meet strict fire safety standards. Both grades achieve UL 94 V-0 rating at thin wall sections — 2.5 mm for D-1000S and an even thinner 1.5 mm for D-1300 — along with 5VA rating at 2.5–2.8 mm. They resist ignition effectively, self-extinguish rapidly, and minimize flaming drips. D-1000S is a TBBA (brominated) system, while D-1300 is a NON-TBBA (halogen-free) formulation that also complies with REACH standards. These properties make them excellent choices for applications requiring high fire safety, such as electronics housings, appliances, and public infrastructure components.
2. Maintains strong mechanical properties
These FR-ABS grades retain excellent mechanical performance typical of quality ABS while adding flame retardancy. The grades deliver good rigidity, toughness, and durability, making them suitable for structural housings, enclosures, and load-bearing components without significant loss of impact resistance compared to standard ABS.
3. Good thermal performance
- Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): 80°C (D-1000S) / 87°C (D-1300) at 1.82 MPa (264 psi)
- Vicat Softening Temperature: 90°C (D-1000S) / 98°C (D-1300)
- Rockwell Hardness (R-scale): 105 (D-1000S) / 99 (D-1300)
These values support applications exposed to moderate elevated temperatures, such as electrical appliances, heaters, and electronic devices.
4. Excellent processability
Both grades offer good flow characteristics for complex, thin-wall parts:
- Melt Flow Rate: D-1000S = 6.0 g/10min (200°C/5kg), very high flow at 57 g/10min (220°C/10kg)
- D-1300 = 3.1 g/10min (200°C/5kg), still suitable for most molding
Processing recommendations:
- Drying: 75–85°C
- Injection Temperature: 180–210°C (D-1000S) / 190–220°C (D-1300)
- Mold Temperature: 40–80°C
They are easy to injection mold, providing excellent surface finish and dimensional stability for intricate designs in electronics, home appliances, and industrial parts.
